Must Haves for Traveling with An 18 Month Old

I recently made a post with some details about traveling with a toddler, but here is a quick packing list of some items I know we needed for our most recent trip to LA & Mammoth!

Sleeping:

Portable Sound Machine:  I traveled without one once, and I used my phone instead, but it was a bit inconvenient…I was also afraid it would stop working if someone tried to call me!

Inflatable Sleeping Bumpers : Since Aluna sleeps in a big girl bed, we use these for the bed we are sleeping in, on a mattress on the floor, or on a couch so she doesn’t roll off while she is sleeping.

Before big girl bed stage, we used the Lotus Crib with a Slumber Pod(great for room sharing!)

Eating:

Portable High Chair: Inglesina Fast Chair is awesome, but a big pricey.  It clips onto any table!  We also have the Summer Pop ‘n Sit Chair, which is so much easier to set up, and it’s under $25!

Silicone Bib (or bib of your choice) & Food Catching Silicone Feeding Mat (i love this one because it has the little food catching thing that hangs off the table) - I always bring a large Stasher Bag to carry them both in… because if we go out to eat and it’s still got a little food on it, I can just “stash” it in the bag and clean it when we get home

Health / Hygiene:

Haaka Silicone Baby Aspirator - great for if they get sick AND if they are congested on the plane and their ears hurt!  So easy to clean you don’t have to worry about it being noisy like the electric ones!

Entertainment:

Ok, so I used to be super against Screen Time, but it definitely was a lifesaver for us for the long 5 hour drive we had to Mammoth last week.  We bought this Headrest Tablet Holder for the iPad, and Aluna (who hates the car!) didn’t make a peep because she was able to watch Lion King & Moana the whole way.  Don’t forget to download the movies before you get on the road!

Pull String Learning Rope Toy

Any Montessori Toy (but most of them come with tons of parts, so we just brought one!)  A Busy Board is big but you won’t have to worry about parts
